2025 SOCA Sunburn Tournament

SOCA invites you to participate in the Annual Sunburn Tournament. The tournament is accepting all USYSA & US Club Soccer registered recreational teams throughout the state of Virginia. Games will be held at the SOCA-ACAC South Fork Soccer Park, SOCA Field House, and other locations in Albemarle County as needed. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. The SOCA Sunburn tournament is always an exciting and fun-filled soccer weekend!
This tournament is held for the enjoyment of the players. SOCA’s goal is to provide recreational players an opportunity to showcase their skills and experience the exhilaration of a tournament setting. All participants (players, coaches, and spectators) are encouraged to enjoy the fun and challenge of a tournament format while maintaining the highest standards of sportsmanship.

Who Can Play?
The Sunburn Tournament is open to all Recreational teams and players who are registered with USYSA or US Club Soccer.
NO travel teams or players are permitted.
The tournament is largely intended for current SOCA Recreational and Challenge teams, but other teams from outside organizations are accepted and encouraged. Limited guest players are permitted, all players must be registered as a recreational player in the current soccer year. All team members must be on the roster prior to the roster freeze deadline.

Can we bring guest players?
A maximum of five guest players is permitted for each team.
Guest players must be rostered on a recreational team for the current soccer year prior to the application deadline.
No team may use a guest player from another SOCA team that is also participating in this tournament.
The maximum roster size, including guest players, may not exceed the limits described below.

How do we enter?
Complete the application and provide full payment no later than the application deadline. <See Registration Link above>
Applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. SOCA reserves the right to accept teams and form divisions as needed.

How many, and when are the games?
The tournament will use a two-day format. There will be a minimum of three games for each team. Games will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
Participating teams must be prepared and willing to play at any time between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm (possible later for older age groups) on both days.
Sorry, no scheduling requests can be considered. Coaches with multiple teams will be deconflicted whenever possible. Championship matches to be played on Sunday when possible. Division schedule formats are determined by the number of registered and accepted teams.

Recreational Tournament Expectations
- All healthy and eligible players shall play at least half of each match.
- All teams are expected to field the correct number of players for their age group. The regular season expectation for a team to play with less players than the recommended amount in order to match the opponents available players is waived for tournament play.
- All SOCA teams must wear their current issued uniforms. No exceptions.
- Eyeglass hinges must be covered and jewelry removed before playing in every match.
- Tournament officials reserve the right to verify the identification of all players prior to the start of each match. Unregistered players are not permitted.

- U12, U15, and U19 Teams = $275

Refunds & Cancellations
Refund requests received in writing prior to May 12, will be refunded in full. No refunds will be given after, except in the event of tournament cancellation.
If the tournament is cancelled due to weather, refunds will be issued minus expenses incurred in the setup of the event.
