SOCA U17 Boys and Girls Elite Reach Cup Final!
SOCA placed two teams into the VYSA State Cup final round with semi-final victories on Saturday, October 29. Both the U17 Boys and U17 Girls posted identical 3-1 wins at the Virginia Soccer Training Center (VSTC) to advance to the championship match, which will take place next Sunday.
The U17 Boys overtook Beach FC and will face second seeded Arlington Red in the final next week. The pairing is a rematch of the quarter-final round where the SOCA boys fell by a 2-1 score to the northern Virginia squad. The semi-final round was an all CCL affair, with Arlington topping Loudoun to advance to the final.
In girls action, SOCA’s U17 Elites ran past Virginia Legacy and will also face off against an Arlington Red squad. SOCA beat Arlington 2-0 in the earlier quarter-final group stage. Arlington defeated NVSC to advance for the rematch against SOCA in the final.
SOCA Director of Coaching, Dan Ensley, had a busy but satisfying day at the VSTC. As coach of both the SOCA U17 flagship squads, Ensley could finally rest at the conclusion of the action, having guided his two teams safely to the championship match. In CCL league play, both SOCA U17 teams remain unbeaten and untied.
Schedules for the VYSA State Cup championship matches have not yet been released. All matches will be held at the VSTC in Fredericksburg on Sunday, November 6.
