SOCA Hires New Director of Coaching and ECNL Regional League Coordinator

Tyler Hudson joins SOCA as DOC for the ECNL Regional League.

The Soccer Organization of the Charlottesville Area has hired Tyler Hudson as the club’s Director of Coaching in charge of ECNL Regional League travel teams.  Tyler will direct the ECNL RL level of SOCA’s Travel Program, managing 12 teams, U13-U19, boys and girls, in the statewide league of Virginia’s strongest youth clubs.  In addition to his role as Director of Coaching, Tyler will serve as head coach for the 2009 and 2011 Girls SOCA Elite teams in Fall 2024.

Hudson comes to SOCA by way of Fayetteville, NC where he served as the Assistant Coaching Director and Youth Academy Director for the Villareal Force Academy with Fayetteville Soccer Club since 2017.  He most recently coached the U16 boys and girls teams with Villarreal in the North Carolina 1st Division and also has been the coach for the UPSL semi-professional team operating in Fayetteville, NC.

Tyler served on the ODP staff for both the state of North Carolina and the South Region level.  He holds the USSF National B License as well as the USYS National Youth License, several Villarreal C. F. CDP Certificates and is an accredited Coach Educator with USSF for D License instruction.

The addition of Hudson to the staff will free up Gregory Vickrey to spearhead a new role the club is launching as Director of Coaching for U11 and U12 teams.  In Vickrey’s new role he will direct all U11 and U12 travel teams, from Blue to Gold, as players are prepared for future positions on Skyline Elite, SOCA ECNL RL and SOCA NPL teams.  Having someone attending to those age groups specifically will allow the club to innovate and expand its ability to offer creative training and game play scenarios that treat those age groups more as a “pool”.  The extra attention will also deepen SOCA’s knowledge of the player pool in these critical age groups.

New SOCA ECNL RL Director of Coaching, Tyler Hudson said:

I’m very excited to have the opportunity to join SOCA Elite ECNL RL this year.  I am looking forward to working with the players in the Charlottesville area and helping them grow both on and off the field.  After meeting the staff, there is a great culture within the club, and I am eager to add to that.  I’ve hit the ground running since I’ve been in Charlottesville with both staff and players and my aim is to see our teams and players reach their highest potential.
