On September 26 the VYSA President’s Cup competition got underway with five SOCA Premier teams and one Skyline Elite SC team involved in the opening round.  It was a day with some unusual results and high drama.

Three squads advanced, each needing overtime or penalty kicks to resolve the outcome.  The U19 Boys Elite were held 1-1 at the end of regulation, but then stormed past the visiting Baystars in the overtime period, notching four goals for a 5-1 victory.  Both the U15 and U16 Boys Premier teams went to penalty kicks to secure their passage to the next round of play.

On October 3 the U17 Girls Premier Blue will launch their campaign away at Arlington.

State Cup competition begins for Skyline Elite teams this Saturday, October 3, as well.  Three matches are slated at Charlottesville High School stadium field; U17 Boys (1:00 pm), U15 Boys (3:00 pm) and U15 Girls (5:00 pm).  The U16 Girls and Boys Elites will kick off their quest for the cup at South Fork Soccer Park, field #4, at 10:30am and 12:30 pm, respectively.
